Turnbuckles - Rigging Screws
Turnbuckles
also called rigging screws, tensioners, bottlescrews or adjusters are
available in three body styles, open, closed and marine, and with a
variety of terminations to suit every use.
Turnbuckles
& Rigging Screws - Closed Body:
Closed
Body is the traditional style rigging screw body, manufactured from high
quality 316 grade solid stainless steel bar which is then polished to a
mirror finish, available in a variety of combinations.
Turnbuckles &
Rigging Screws - Open Body style
Open
body style allows position of engagement to be easily determined, manufactured
from solid, high grade 316 stainless steel and available with a variety
of terminations.
Turnbuckles:
A
turnbuckle is a device for adjusting the tension or length of ropes,
cables and tie rods. It normally consists of two threaded eyelets, one
screwed into each end of a small metal loop, one with a left-hand thread
and the other with a right-hand thread. The tension can be adjusted by
rotating the loop, which causes both eyelets to be screwed in or out
simultaneously.
Turnbuckles
are most commonly used in applications which require a great deal of
tension; they can range in mass from about ten grams for thin cable used
in a garden fence, to thousands of kilograms for structural elements in
buildings and suspension bridges. This device is also known as a
bottlescrew and is used on ships for tensioning rigging and lashings.
Calibrated rigging screws help you change your mast position quickly
from heavy to light settings with the changing wind strength.
Swage Terminals
A
swage terminal, made from 316 stainless steel is a product used to
terminate wire. A machine is used (swaging machine) to terminate the
wire. The wire is passed into a deep hole in the swage terminal which is
then pressed onto the terminal by applying force.
Terminations are pressed onto wire strand with a swaging machine and are
used to terminate 1x19, 7x19 and 7x7stainless steel wire strands.
